Hennessy Construction Services - Bayshore High School Building 200 & General Works
Construction was well under way on three of this project’s four buildings when the design team and construction manager (Brown & Root) realized that major cost savings would be needed in order to build the fourth building within the contracted budget. At that point Hennessy was contacted for assistance in re-design and value engineering of “Building 200," which included the school’s gymnasium, locker rooms, auditorium, and classrooms for the theatrical and musical arts programs.
Hennessy proposed going to a pre-engineered metal building with masonry curtain wall system and brick veneer, which saved considerable money over the original design. This building was completed without added cost to the original contracted budget.
As a result of Hennessy's performance on Building 200, they were contracted to complete the General Works Package for the overall Brown & Root project. This work included overhead coiling doors and grilles, various flooring systems, all Division 10 items, outdoor concrete courts and related athletic equipment, library shelving and magnetic detection systems, window treatments, and other miscellaneous items.
