Hennessy Construction Services - Jordan School Renovation
This project is a historical renovation of the original 1925 portion of Jordan School and will be used for Pinellas County's Head Start program. The project was built under LEED guidelines, and achieved a LEED Silver rating. Some LEED related items included solar energy panels, solar water heating, grey-water system and Cool-Kap roof.
Work included renovation of approximately 13,000 sf of the existing 2-story 1925 building, and demolition of the 1947 addition. The existing structure is hollow clay tile with brick veneer. Scope included reinforcing the walls and then removing, cleaning, and re-laying the existing brickwork. Interior finishes were restored to their 1925-era style utilizing cement and gypsum plaster. An elevator was retrofitted into the building, along with all new interior finishes, historical doors, windows and millwork. A new mechanical building to house the HVAC equipment and provide storage for playground equipment was also built on the site.
