Hennessy Construction Services - Hillsborough County Lake Park Water Station Renovation & Addition
In February 2002, the County hired Hennessy as a General Contractor to construct a new storm hardened building over the existing structure for Category 4 hurricane protection.
The overall project included enveloping the existing 8,010 square foot structure in 12” structural split face masonry block with steel roof system and enlarging the building to create a 16,000 square foot storm hardened facility. Work also included building a new, separate 445 square foot structure to house the on-site chlorine generation system. This on-site chlorine generation system is one of the first large scale systems to be installed in Hillsborough County. Major building code upgrades, a new mechanical system and extensive sitework were included in the scope.
Hennessy worked closely with FleischmanGarcia Architecture to overcome schedule challenges that were a result of unforeseen conditions requiring removal of existing underground pipe. Fortunately, Hennessy’s own site crew handled these delays and the overall schedule was not impacted. The project was finished within the original contract budget.
