Post contract award review of low bids revealed many incomplete scopes. To ensure compliance with strict LDS standards, the project was re-bid to qualified subcontractors familiar with LDS work.

During construction, Hennessy performed supplemental concrete work as needed so as to maintain the project schedule and quality of workmanship. Out-of-state vendor material and owner furnishings required careful planning, storage and recruitment of qualified installers. Out-of-state subcontractor licensing issues were mitigated by Hennessy’s relationships with local subcontractors.  This project allowed Hennessy the opportunity to prove our ability at all levels to maintain high standards and strict compliance to contract requirements.

The Florida Aquarium Explor-a-Shore Exhibit
The Aquarium approached Hennessy in October 2002 with the concept of converting their outdoor entertainment area into an “Island” theme children and family attraction.  It was their desire to create a contemporary covered patio with terraced levels utilizing thatch, bamboo and wood.  Woodroffe Corporation was hired by Hennessy to lead the charge through the City permitting process to make this dream a reality.  While the design was underway The Aquarium was busy with fund raising.

Featured at the exhibit are new interactive water exhibits, Tiki huts, restrooms, snack bar, climbing wall, outdoor theater, fish food shack and a pirate’s ship.
